VIDEO: Nicholas Castellanos Puts Cubs on Top of Brewers With Early 2-Run Homer
By Michael Luciano
Nicholas Castellanos on the Detroit Tigers and Nicholas Castellanos on the Chicago Cubs might as well be two totally different players. Ever since being sent to the NL, Castellanos has been red hot, and continued his amazing month of August in Cubbie blue with a two-run home run off of Milwaukee Brewers starter Chase Anderson, which gave the Cubs a quick first inning lead.
That was home run No. 21 on the season, but No. 10 as a Cub.
Castellanos is now hitting .357 with 10 homers and 19 extra-base hits as a member of the Cubs. When those numbers are contrasted with the .273 average and 11 home runs he compiled in 100 games in Detroit in 2019, you can only shake your head in bewilderment at his turnaround if you're a Tigers fan.
Acquired for outfield depth at the deadline, Castellanos has quickly become indispensable for Joe Maddon and the Cubs.
