VIDEO: Nuggets' Nikola Jokic Toasts Karl-Anthony Towns for Game-Winning Jumper in Minnesota
By Adam Weinrib
Don't think the Joker hasn't heard the early-season Towns MVP buzz. In a spectacular capper to their first one-on-one battle of the season, Nikola Jokic went on the road to Minnesota, went toe-to-toe with Towns, and polished him off at the horn with this dirty jumper. Following a sequence of herky-jerky moves that were so spectacularly Jokic, this ball found paydirt at the bottom of the twine, delivering a 100-98 victory for the surging Nuggets.
This overtime J pushed the Nugs to 7-2 on the year, firmly entrenched towards the top of a competitive West.
Defense ruled this head-to-head challenge, but Jokic finished with 20-6-7, while Towns countered with 25-16-6.
Jokic got the only two points that actually mattered, though, in the end.
