VIDEO: Oakland Man Narrowly Saved From Oncoming Train After Raiders Game in Terrifying Clip
By Jerry Trotta
Oakland Raiders fans the were riding high after defeating the Detroit Lions on Sunday to improve to 4-4 on the year. Fans piled into the Coliseum BART station after the game to catch a train home, and the stop was so congested that one man walked too close to ledge and fell onto the tracks. Footage shows that the train was seconds away from striking the individual, but one BART employee noticed the fall and heroically pulled him off the tracks JUST in time. WARNING: the clip is significantly chilling, as the train couldn't have come closer to crashing into the fan.
You seriously can't help but cringe upon watching that, regardless of the rescue. The fan was literally a second or two away from dying, if not for the efforts of the BART employee, identified as John O'Connor.
"Everybody was telling him, ‘Get out of the trackway, a train’s coming," said O'Connor. “I thought the train was going to cut him in half, honestly ... I didn’t want to see this guy die."
To make this feel-good story all the more uplifting if the fact that O'Connor and the man he saved shared a lengthy embrace moments after the rescue.
You can see in the background that other passengers were clearly distraught from the near nightmare, and rightfully so. We are just so relieved that O'Connor sprung into action.
