VIDEO: Orioles' Defense Makes Embarrassing Blunders And Allows Red Sox to Tie Game
By Karl Rasmussen
Orioles fans may want to avert their eyes from this one. With two runners on, the Sox blooped a ball into shallow left field, where three O's fielders gave chase. Unfortunately, their communication was lacking, and the ball dropped directly between the trio. Shortstop Jonathan Villar then airmailed a ball to home plate, only for pitcher Paul Fry to deflect the throw, sending it to the backstop.
The multitude of fielding mistakes allowed two runs to cross the plate on the play, and what's worse is that Orioles catcher Chance Sisco took a hit from Christian Vázquez and suffered an injury and was forced to exit the game.
From the moment the ball left Mitch Moreland's bat, this play had disaster written all over it.
