VIDEO: Packers Finish Off Panthers With Powerful Defensive Stop as Snow Intensifies at Lambeau
By Scott Rogust
If there's two things that go together on this beautiful earth, it's football and snow. In the week leading up to the Green Bay Packers' clash against the Carolina Panthers, Lambeau Field was hammered with snowfall, setting us up for a beauty of a clash this Sunday. After shoveling the snow from the turf and stands of Lambeau Field, it reappeared on Sunday and wreaked havoc throughout the showdown.
What a beautiful image.
Amid the snowfall, the Packers and Panthers engaged in what was an entertaining and close game. In the closing minutes, facing a 24-16 deficit, the Panthers clawed their way up the field and through the ice to set themselves up at Green Bay's two-yard line. With four seconds remaining, Panthers head coach Ron Rivera called a draw up the middle for star running back Christian McCaffrey, in one last gasp attempt at glory.
Usually a sure thing, McCaffrey was swallowed up by the Packers defense, falling just a yard short of reaching the end zone.
After official review deemed McCaffrey was short of the goal line, the Packers improved to 8-2 on the year, while the Panthers fell to 5-4.
Snow close.
