VIDEO: Packers' Za'Darius Smith Was Wrong When He Said Matt LaFleur Nixed Sack Celebrations
By Michael Luciano
Apparently Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur isn't the unemotional fun police we all thought he was. Just days after Packers pass rusher Za'Darius Smith claimed that LaFleur put the kibosh on sack celebrations, he and teammate Preston Smith announced they are back on. The pair is planning to unveil a Halloween-themed show this week against the Oakland Raiders.
LaFleur's main gripe with dancing after getting a sack was that it takes up valuable time that the defense or punt team could use to prepare for a kick or a fourth-down conversion attempt.
During their controversial Monday Night Football win over the Detroit Lions, a game in which Smith was able to bring down Matthew Stafford, the Packers defender celebrated by pretending to fall asleep, which mocked his fine after missing a special teams meeting.
As long as the Smiths, who have 13 sacks between them, keep finding ways to get to the quarterback, they should be allowed to dance all they want. While they're at it, why not break out the Shawne Merriman dance? Or Mark Gastineau's routine?
