VIDEO: Pat Riley Takes Funny Shot at Duke While Praising Tyler Herro
By Michael Luciano

Some teams just have a fetish for drafting players from one particular school. The Washington Redskins love their Alabama players, and the New Orleans Saints can't get enough Ohio State Buckeyes. In the NBA, the Miami Heat have generally seemed to have half of their team composed of Duke Blue Devils. In an attempt to reverse course, and perhaps make amends with his alma mater, Heat president and former Kentucky player Pat Riley took Wildcat star Tyler Herro, throwing in a parting shot at Duke while he's at it.

"It's not a coincidence anymore that we're drafting all the Kentucky players. Getting rid of the Duke concept." pic.twitter.com/pSzxHkg8gl
The Heat took Herro with the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, following the selection of Bam Adebayo two years prior, and his sharpshooting from behind the arc should translate to the league instantly. Lucky for Heat fans, Herro grew up as a fan of the Heat during the Dwyane Wade days.

Even though some of his picks worked out, selecting a Blue Devil has to make an old Wildcat feel a bit dirty inside. With the Herro selection, at least Riley won't have a guilty conscience.
