VIDEO: Patrick Mahomes Exits Chiefs' Thursday Night Game After Suffering Brutal Knee Injury
By Jerry Trotta
Well, this is the absolute the last thing that the Kansas City Chiefs, and the NFL as a whole, needed to see materialize on Thursday Night Football. Superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes came into tonight's clash against the Denver Broncos with a hobbled ankle, but the reigning MVP has just been removed from the game with a separate knee injury that he suffered on a 4th down QB sneak early in the second quarter.
It's hard to depict what happened based on that footage as Mahomes was on the very bottom of a pile comprised of offensive and defensive lineman, a predicament that you never want to see any player be in, let alone a franchise quarterback.
Mahomes subsequently limped off the field and was seen shortly after heading to the Chiefs locker room for X-Rays.
It's truly a tough watch, but it's relieving to see him walk on the leg with significant pressure, almost without a limp, though knee injuries, as we know, are as unpredictable as any ailment.
Kansas City has ruled Mahomes OUT for the rest of the game and FOX's Erin Andrews revealed that doctors are looking at the outside of Mahomes' knee, so make of that what you will.
We'll certainly provided updates on the All-Pro once they are made available. In the meantime, Matt Moore is in at quarterback for the Chiefs.
