VIDEO: Patriots WR Mohamed Sanu Runs Route Short of Marker on 3rd Down Then Drops 4th-Down Pass
By Scott Rogust
The New England Patriots traded away their second-round pick to the Atlanta Falcons in exchange for wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. When watching Sanu's performance on Sunday against the Houston Texans, the Patriots might be regretting that decision. On a 3rd and 4 in the third quarter, quarterback Tom Brady hit Sanu on a cross route, but the receiver fell inches short of the first down marker when he had the space to easily grab the first down.
Facing 4th and inches, Brady once again targeted Sanu, who ran his route past the marker this time. However, once the ball hit his hands, Sanu couldn't secure it, resulting in a turnover on downs.
The Patriots traded for Sanu to make big time plays in situations like these, and he literally and figuratively dropped the ball here. Not a good look.
