Goldschmidt's 3-run blast gave the Cards a 6-4 lead over the Pirates, which was just enough to get the job done. Despite plating one in the ninth, the Buccos fell just short of Goldschmidt and the Cardinals, giving St. Louis a 2-1 series victory.
Over his last 15 games, Paul Goldschmidt is slugging .519.

For a while, he was below .400 in his recent stretches. That’s changed.
That’s what the Cardinals need. A difference-making thumper. #stlcards
The home run was Goldschmidt's 18th of the season, adding to the offensive tear he's been on lately. He and the Cardinals kick off a series with the Cincinnati Reds starting Thursday.
