VIDEO: Persistent Pigeon Causes Brief Delay During Padres-Marlins Game

The Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres were treating (the few) ticket holders for Tuesday's clash in South Beach with a thrilling contest through the first two innings. Both clubs posted three runs on the scoreboard early on and Padres were looking to add a fourth in the second frame with one out and a man on second. However, a pesky pigeon had other ideas and elected to storm the infield, prompting a brief stoppage of play.

The broadcasters even had a little fun with the intermission (as they should), assessing the pigeon's presumptuous lead at first base. The umpire was slowly following the pigeon around in attempt to get it to leave the field, but the bird would simply move to a new spot.

We'll hazard a guess and say that no player opted to take matters into their own hands. And we don't blame them. Only a few brave souls would dare to cross a bird as unpredictable as the pigeon.
