VIDEO: Pete Alonso and Jeff McNeil Act in 'Step Brothers' Parody for All-Star Votes
By Brendan Azoff
Jeff McNeil and Pete Alonso are having tremendous seasons for the New York Mets, and their campaign to go to the All-Star Game took a comedic turn this week both teamed up for a 'Step Brothers'-themed advertisement.
The video depicts the two stars interviewing for positions on the All-Star team, only to find out that they wasted their time because the fans have to be the ones to vote them in. It is a silly concept, but one that will certainly garner a little extra fan support.
McNeil is batting .333 with three homers and 20 RBI on the season, and has been a bright spot on the Mets this year. His numbers may not be enough to get him to Cleveland (especially since he missed a chunk of time on the IL), but he will be campaigning until the very end.
His teammate, Pete Alonso, will most definitely be at the All-Star Game in July. With a .263 average to go along with 23 home runs and 53 RBI, Alonso is tearing up the MLB in his rookie season and is well on his way to being the most prolific rookie bat in Mets history.
