Perhaps nobody has had a better MLB All-Star break than New York Mets rookie Pete Alonso. Just 24 hours prior, the first baseman won the Home Run Derby. In the top of the eighth inning of the All-Star Game, Alonso stepped up to the plate for the National League with the bases loaded down 4-1. On his last strike, Alonso hit a single that was just out of the reach of New York Yankees shortstop Gleyber Torres to knock in two runs, and pulling the game within one.
Nobody is loving the festivities more than "Polar Bear" Pete Alonso in his first of what is likely to be many MLB All-Star Games. He's been the life of the party out in Cleveland, entertaining fans with his powerful swing and bright personality.
