By Jerry Trotta

What a way to make history! With the New York Mets trailing the Atlanta Braves 4-2 on Saturday night, Pete Alonso stepped up in a BIG way for his club by launching a monstrous three-run blast to give the Amazins' the lead in the fifth inning. The homer was the Polar Bear's 41st of the 2019 campaign, a mark that just so happens to have tied the Mets franchise record for a single season.

A no-doubter to the deepest part of the ballpark? How else would you expect the young stud to tie the record? And he capped it off with an EPIC bat flip that got Citi Field rocking.

It's just a matter of time before the All-Star first baseman holds the historic feat all to himself. What a season for the rookie.
