VIDEO: Pete Alonso Ties Mets Rookie HR Record With Solo Blast Against the Cubs
By Parker White

The New York Mets aren't having the kind of season they wanted, but at least they have first baseman Pete Alonso, right? The rookie slugger has been hitting tanks all season, and he did so again in the first inning against the Chicago Cubs on Saturday. He decided to go oppo taco this time around. Take a look:
No. 2⃣6⃣ for @Pete_Alonso20, tying a #Mets rookie record for home runs in a season.

This is Alonso's 26th homer of the season, which ties the Mets rookie home run record with the great Darryl Strawberry. The crazy thing is that he's probably going to break the record and we aren't even at the All-Star break.

I know the ball being juiced is a topic of conversation this year, but Alonso isn't hitting wall-scrappers. Just about every one is going at least 5-10 rows deep in the stands.
Alonso has mutant power. We can only hope he checks his name into the Home Run Derby.
