VIDEO: Peter Alonso Blasts Record-Setting 16th Homer of Season Against Nationals to Tie Game
By Scott Rogust
The New York Mets have been the talk of baseball after getting swept by the Miami Marlins this past weekend. After manager Mickey Callaway got the vote of confidence, the Mets were looking to win for their manager on Tuesday night at Citi Field. Down 5-4 against the Washington Nationals, rookie phenom Peter Alonso tied things up in the eighth inning with his 16th home run of the season.
With that blast, Alonso has now set the Mets franchise rookie record for most homers by a player before the All-Star break. It's important to note that there are still seven weeks before this season's All-Star Game.
Just imagine if the Mets didn't have Pete Alonso? Fans donning the blue and orange are cringing at that thought.
