VIDEO: Phillies' Ace Aaron Nola Brings Mets' Pete Alonso to a Knee With Filthy Changeup
By Jerry Trotta
Well, Aaron Nola can now say that he has accomplished what very few pitchers in baseball can say they have in 2019: make Mets rookie phenom Pete Alonso look like a fool at the plate. During the Polar Bear's second at-bat in the top half of the third inning on Friday night, the Phillies' ace unleashed a devastating changeup that forced the young slugger to embarrassingly swing out of his shoes and land on one knee.
Folks, if Alonso's right arm didn't brace his stumble, he was, by all means, about to get a literal taste of the batters box.
Nola knew he was looking for a fastball and absolutely bamboozled him with an off-speed pitch of the highest regard.
