VIDEO: Phillies Sweep Mets Thanks to New York's Epic Meltdown and Jean Segura's Walk-off Home Run
By Charles Nason
After an unreal day on the mound by Philadelphia Phillies ace Aaron Nola, Mets third baseman Todd Frazier completely unraveled all his hard work. After relief pitcher Hector Neris came into the game, Frazier blasted a two-run shot to left field to give the Mets the lead over the Phillies in the top of the ninth inning.
The Mets extended their lead to 3-1 thanks to Amed Rosario, but did we forget they had to get three outs to finish this off?
The luck of the bamboo prevailed. Just a half-inning after Frazier's go-ahead blast, Phillies third baseman Maikel Franco crushed a two-run homer off Mets closer Edwin Diaz to tie the game back up.
And that wasn't it! Jean Segura had his time to shine. For the first time in his career, the 29-year-old shortstop blasted a three-run homer to walk it off for the Phillies.
Franco and Segura's home runs help lift the Phillies over the Mets for a four-game series sweep and marks the second straight game with a walk-off hit. Philadelphia still remains undefeated in the "bamboo era" and have racked up a four-game winning streak after breaking their seven-game losing streak.
