VIDEO: Pirates' Kevin Newman Hits Walk-off Single as Cubs Bullpen Falters in 9th Inning Yet Again
By Karl Rasmussen
For a second straight night, Cubs fans are going home in a fit of rage. After Bryce Harper's walk-off grand slam on Thursday night, the Cubs were hoping they could put their bullpen woes behind them. That was far from the case on Friday, as they yet again surrendered a walk-off hit. Pirates infielder Kevin Newman knocked in the game-winning run off Brandon Kintzler.
Newman has burst onto the scene this year, and while the Pirates have fallen out of the postseason hunt, he was still able to get some satisfaction out of delivering a loss to the division rivals.
The Cubs have a serious problem at the back end of their bullpen, as no matter who they throw on the mound, they seem to implode.
