VIDEO: Pirates Radio Broadcast Jinxed the Hell Out of Them Right Before Lane Thomas Grand Slam
By Charles Nason
When Cardinals slugger Lane Thomas stepped up to the plate, St. Louis was in danger of stranding three men on base at a crucial time in Sunday's matchup with the Pirates. Just a strike away from the end of the inning, few believed Thomas would play the role of hero with a clutch grand slam. Well, you can add the Pirates broadcast team to that list.
Just after those announcers said they saw a strike three incoming, Thomas had other ideas.
His grand slam sparked a comeback win for the Cardinals. Along with his four-run addition, the Cardinals tacked on another two runs to earn a 11-9 victory.
The Pirates, riding an eight-game losing streak including two consecutive series sweeps, clearly aren't getting help from anyone. Even their announcers are jinxing them as soon as it looks like they have a chance to win a game.
This grand slam does teach us a valuable lesson, however. From now on, announcers should probably hold off on making predictions.
