VIDEO: PNC Park Crowd Just Minutes Before Pirates-Marlins is Pathetic
By Mark Powell

Let the record show we don't blame Pirates fans for not making their way to PNC Park to watch a battle between two losing ball-clubs, especially while penny-pinching Bob Nutting is running the team. However, the crowd size just minutes before Bucs-Marlins might be matched by most minor league baseball games, if not little league.
I don’t run the Pirates. If I did, this look a couple minutes before first pitch would scare the hell out of me: pic.twitter.com/eA85K7RHaP

PNC is a beautiful ballpark, with the city of Pittsburgh providing an epic backdrop for a baseball game. In recent years, though, attendance has been a struggle, especially as the Pirates don't seem inclined to invest much to improve the ballclub. Because of this, management is forced to deal with the obvious challenges of a small-market club.
I'm surprised there's that many.

It's incredible to imagine that just six years ago this stadium was filled to the brim for the 2013 NL Wild Card game, in which the Pirates and their fans made an incredible impact, riding a wave of momentum to their first postseason win in 20 years. Now, it's a ghost town.
