VIDEO: Rafael Devers Cranks 2-Run Homer to Put Red Sox on Top of Blue Jays
By Brian Cass
Coming off two straight losses to the division-rival New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox were looking to rebound back on this side of the Atlantic with their series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The best way to forget about a loss is to get off to a fast start in the next game, and that's exactly what the Sox did with this two-run bomb from third baseman Rafael Devers in the first inning.
Devers put everything he had into that swing, and it paid dividends as the ball soared into the stands. That two-run shot gave Boston an early 2-0 advantage over their AL East foe. They have since added two more runs to make it 4-0.
The 22-year-old slugger has been tremendous at the plate this season, posting a slash line of .322/.372/.525 to go along with 13 home runs.
