VIDEO: Random Guy Yelling NSFW Praise at XFL's Houston Roughnecks is Exactly What We Need
By Sam Dunn
The XFL re-announced itself with reasonable fanfare over the weekend, with the kind of modest TV ratings you wouldn't sneeze at knowing that the competition was college basketball and syndicated reruns of, I dunno, probably "Matlock" on MyNetworkTV. And while the Houston Roughnecks should be congratulated for winning their debut game against... whomever they played, the real breakout star wasn't any player on the field, but this loud, round-shaped man who became an instant star on Reddit for his sheer enthusiasm for the team.
"They got some real [expletive] quarterbacks in this league," he shouted as PJ Walker aired out a deep ball. "He goes up there and says, 'I got the [expletive] groceries, son!'"
"He," in this case, is Nick Holley, who's listed as a running back. That did not stop him from bagging the dang ol' groceries, though.
Compare this man's style, panache, and particular diction to Jesse Ventura, whose manner of promoting the old XFL nearly two decades ago didn't quite land.
Okay, boomer.
Can we identify Profane Enthusiastic Houston Guy and get him in the booth with Curt Menefee next weekend? At the very least, he won't misidentify his favorite team as the Renegades.
