VIDEO: Rays' Willy Adames Delivers Walk-Off Hit and Savage Bat Flip
By Austin Pert
The Tampa Bay Rays walked it off in the 11th inning thanks to a Willy Adames RBI single against the Toronto Blue Jays at Tropicana Field. But the true highlight is the bat flip from the shortstop, which was... pronounced.
It was his fifth at bat of the game, and before the game-winner, he was without a hit. That all changed at the right time. With the bases loaded and just one out, Adames knew right away that even if the ball was caught, the hit to deep center field would drive in the winning run via sacrifice.
The win gave the Rays a three-game sweep over the Jays, and their fifth straight overall. So I think it's fair to say that Adames deserves to celebrate-- even if it means breaking one of baseball's imaginary unwritten rules.
