VIDEO: Red Sox Retirement Gift for Bruce Bochy is Pretty Awesome
By Ryan Giglio
As the 2019 baseball season comes to a close, Bruce Bochy's unofficial retirement tour is making its final stops. Before Thursday's game, the Boston Red Sox honored the great career of the baseball lifer with an awesome ceremony at Fenway Park.
The Sox gifted Bochy with a Fenway Park grandstand seat with "2,000" embellished on it. Boston manager Alex Cora told Bochy that he will get another gift but it couldn't be revealed in front of the Fenway crowd.
Bochy won his 2,000th career baseball game as manager on Wednesday as the Giants defeated Boston 11-3.
Only ten other managers in MLB history have won 2,000 games and all of them are in Cooperstown.
In February, Bochy announced his intention to retire after the season, his 13th with the Giants and 25th as manager (he spent 12 years with the Padres before his San Fransisco gig).
While the Giants will finish under .500 for the second straight year, the future Hall of Famer will retire with three World Series rings. Bochy's legacy will no doubt be felt forever in San Fransisco.
