VIDEO: Reds Announcers' Call of Kris Bryant Home Run to Give Cubs a Late Lead is Hilariously Dead
By Sean Facey
Most announcers do a pretty good job of masking their disappointment in their team's shortcomings. Generally, they can at least muster some semblance of flare when the opponent strikes. That wasn't the case for Reds broadcaster Thom Brennaman, who was absolutely dead after Kris Bryant slugged a three-run home run to give the Cubs a late lead over Cincinnati.
Can you really blame him though? The Reds led 3-0 through the first five innings of the game only to give up six runs from the sixth through the eighth. It doesn't get more frustrating than watching a division rival seize the lead off of a struggling bullpen.
The pitcher who allowed the go-ahead blast, Michael Lorenzen, didn't even record an out. "Unbelievable" is right, for once.
Even long-time broadcasters such as Brennaman can have their patience put to the test when the team down on the field is struggling, and that was on full display thanks to Bryant's blast.
