VIDEO: Reds Broadcaster Makes Despicable Comment About Addison Russell's Domestic Abuse Suspension
By Michael Luciano

If you're a young broadcaster looking for work, Fox Sports might be hiring in the near future. When the Cincinnati Reds were facing off against Addison Russell and the Chicago Cubs, color commentator Thom Brennaman, who also does work for the NFL on Fox, and analyst Jeff Brantley authored the most ill-informed debate about Russell's 40-game suspension for domestic violence. Both Brennaman and Brantley had the gall to say that Russell had to "suffer" through his suspension.

Oh, Russell suffered, did he? Let's ask Melissa Reidy, Russell's ex-wife, about how she had to suffer and then let's compare the two.
Suspensions aren't crosses that put-upon players have to bear -- they're reminders that their character and actions go against what their league, the law or basic values. After only missing a quarter of the season, Russell gets to come back and we're supposed to act like this never happened?
The poor guy had to suffer through abusing his wife and the following suspension. Now he gets to continue to suffer the reprecussions by getting his job back having shill announcers portray him as victim. In reality he should be blackballed from baseball and unemployable.

How the MLB should handle domestic abusers is a nuanced topic that calls for serious, in-depth discussion, not bloviation about how hard it was for a millionaire to miss 40 baseball games for assaulting a woman.
