VIDEO: Rex Ryan Cracks Foot Joke on ESPN's Get Up and Sam Ponder Nearly Fell Over
By Michael Luciano
Rex Ryan might not be the greatest football coach in the world, but he's dynamite on TV. After constructing an impenetrable Baltimore Ravens defense and leading the New York Jets to two straight AFC championship games with Mark Sanchez at quarterback, Ryan became more well-known for owning the back pages with bombastic quotes and his, shall we say, serious interest in his wife's feet than winning football games. At least Ryan has a sense of humor about the whole affair, as evidenced by his wisecrack on ESPN's "Get Up" this morning.
Poor Sam Ponder could barely stand up.
Ryan is many things, but filtered or tame is not one of them. He has evolved into a solid, personable analyst during his time at the worldwide leader, but isn't above getting a little crass and making light of himself.
This isn't the first time Ryan has poked fun at his unique preferences, and knowing him, it certainly isn't going to be the last.
Ryan's name should never come up in the coaching rumor mill ever again. Not because he can't coach (he still knows his way around a defense), but because the nation as a whole will be deprived of gut-busters like these.
