VIDEO: Rick Fox Discussed False Reports Which Claimed He Was in the Helicopter Crash Alongside Kobe Bryant
By Karl Rasmussen
While the basketball world continues to mourn the loss of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna, and the seven others who were tragically killed in a helicopter accident Sunday morning, NBA on TNT decided to host a special hour-long segment in Bryant's honor. One of the guests on the show was Rick Fox, who has a unique connection to Sunday's tragedy, in that he was falsely reported to have been on board and killed in the helicopter crash. Fox took a few minutes to discuss his side of the story, and how the false reports impacted him and those close to him.
Fox admitted to being just as surprised and emotional as everyone else upon discovering the news of Bryant, but things took a bizarre turn when his best friend called him and was relieved to hear that he, Fox, was alive.
That's when the former Laker discovered that his name had somehow been tied to events, and when, he said, his phone began to blow up with messages from family and friends checking on his well-being.
To say that the media's inaccurate reporting put Fox into a horrible situation is a major understatement, as he was literally fielding calls and texts from loved ones who were concerned that he was dead.
Fortunately, Fox is okay, but it's clear the 50-year-old was shaken up by the events which took place on Sunday -- and rightfully so.
