VIDEO: Rob Gronkowski Caps Star-Studded Patriots Banner Raising With Gronk Spike
By Scott Rogust
The New England Patriots, much to the dismay of the fanbases of the other 31 teams in the NFL, raised their sixth Super Bowl banner at Gillette Stadium on Sunday. The ceremony took place prior to their game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Patriots pulled out all the stops in terms of star power. Owner Robert Kraft, Drew Bledsoe, Rob Ninkovich, Willie McGinest, Ty Law, and Martellus Bennett stood at midfield for the festivities. But the ceremony was capped off with perhaps its biggest act: Rob Gronkowski spiking a football.
There's no other way to unveil a championship banner.
The Patriots enter the 2019 season once again as Super Bowl favorites, thanks in part to a plethora of moves made in the offseason and the NFL Draft. However, they were put over the top by signing big time receiver Antonio Brown on Saturday.
Maybe Gronkowski is practicing for a midseason comeback? At this rate, anything can happen.
