VIDEO: Robinson Cano Arguing With Ump Instead of Running Out Double Play Sums Up Mets' Season
By Ryan Flores
Robinson Cano has not had a very good weekend for the Mets. First, he didn't hustle on a double-play ball on Saturday's game, going so far as to blame the Marlins score board for saying there were two outs. On Sunday, Cano tapped a ball to the catcher and once again did not hustle on a double play ball. Instead, he decided to argue with the umpire, as he was clearly confused about what just happened at the plate.
Cano's actions perfectly summarize the his team's season this year, as they now sit at a lackluster 20-25 and have officially lost a series to the horrendous Miami Marlins. Mets fans have had a lot to say on twitter about Cano, as they're completely roasting his lackadaisical efforts, and rightfully so. It's not like Cano is known for hustling on plays, but these two plays say a lot about him.
This isn't all, as Mets fans are not only calling out Cano, but manager Mickey Callaway as well.
This was supposed to be the season the Mets took a big step forward and marched towards the playoffs. So far, it's been everything but that. The Mets front office cannot let this go on much longer, as it's hard to imagine anything worse than dropping a series to a team as weak as Miami. These guys need to turn things around, and fast.
