VIDEO: Rockets Release Tribute Video to Chris Paul Before His Return to Houston
By Chris Pyo
The Houston Rockets are facing off with the Oklahoma City Thunder Monday night in a matchup featuring star guard Chris Paul's return to Houston, where he spent the last two years before being traded to the Thunder this offseason. The Rockets saw it fit to honor CP3 with a tribute video, even though he wasn't able to lead the team to an NBA Finals alongside James Harden in his short time there.
For the amount of time Paul spent in this city (and the number of disappointments the franchise endured), the Rockets sure made a damn good montage representing all that Paul meant to the Houston community, both on and off the court.
In his time as a Rocket, Paul averaged a statline of 17.1/5/8 while starting only 58 games in both seasons. Much of his tenure was defined by his inability to build rapport with James Harden, which was a deciding factor in Daryl Morey's decision to trade Paul and draft picks in exchange for Russell Westbrook.
He's a pretty excellent player, all things considered, though, and Houston's playoff fate might've been very different if he hadn't gone down in May 2018. Forgive and forget.
