VIDEO: Ronald Acuña Jr. Blasts 39th Homer Run of Season as He Inches Toward 40-40 Campaign
By Chris Pyo
Ronald Acuña Jr. continues to mash baseballs this year, as he's helped carry the Atlanta Braves to the top of the National League East. Check out his 39th home run of the 2019 campaign, as this solo shot in the top of the seventh brings the Braves within one run of the Philadelphia Phillies.
What an absolute moonshot. With this home run, Acuña Jr. is one home run shy of 40 home runs for the season. As if that isn't impressive enough, Acuña Jr. also has 36 stolen bases on the season (two tonight) with 14 games to go, making it a real possibility that he becomes only the fifth member of the 40-40 club in MLB history. The other players to hit 40 home runs and steal 40 bases in a season are Jose Canseco, Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds and Alfonso Soriano.
It'd be incredible to watch this kid make MLB history.
