VIDEO: Rose Lavelle Puts USWNT up 2-0 With Sensational Goal in World Cup Final
By Karl Rasmussen
Megan Rapinoe opened the scoring with a calm and collected penalty kick, giving the USWNT a 1-0 lead over the Netherlands. Well, that lead quickly doubled in size, as midfield star Rose Lavelle found the back of the net with a truly sensational strike.
Lavelle has been outstanding all tournament for the USWNT, and this marks her third goal in six matches throughout the World Cup. This will definitely be her most memorable moment in the tournament, as the goal was absolutely brilliant.
The 69th-minute screamer was struck perfectly by Lavelle, and was able to sneak past Dutch keeper Sari van Veenendaal, who's been electric all game and has effectively kept the match competitive, preventing a flurry of goals from the United States.
