VIDEO: Routine Fly Ball Drops Between Brock Holt and Mookie Betts to Cap Nightmare Game for Red Sox
By Austin Pert
It wasn't the best of nights for the Boston Red Sox. Crooked numbers in the sixth and seveth innings allowed the Cleveland Indians to propel themselevs to a blowout win at Fenway Park, and if the evening couldn't get worse for the home team and their fans, a moment from the ninth inning is now sure to make SportsCenter's "Not Top 10."
Since neither Brock Holt nor Mookie Betts touched the ball before it fell, Oscar Mercado was credited with a single on the play.
The few Boston fans remaining at Fenway had to have been appalled at the gaffe in right-center field. Hopefully, they were watching their Bruins in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final instead.
