VIDEO: Russian Call of Juan Soto Game-Tying Home Run is Hilariously Dull
By Michael Luciano
The Russian judge has always been the most difficult one to impress, but this is taking it to a completely different level. While Washington exploded following Juan Soto's opposite field home run against Houston Astros starter Gerrit Cole, the Russian broadcast of this game serenaded this moment with the most boring, placid commentary ever:
So, a 20-year-old phenom goes oppo off of the most dominant starter in the big leagues and hits a ball onto the train tracks at Minute Maid Park, and the Russians are treating this like he grounded out to second?
Given how hot Soto, Anthony Rendon and the Nationals lineup as a whole has been in these playoffs, the Russians will get a couple more chances at providing a little more excitement. Hopefully they learn from their mistakes and get a bit more animated.
I can't wait when the Russians get to call the final out of this series, and they end up treating a World Series victory like a win over the Tigers in the middle of June.
