VIDEO: Ryan Braun and Orlando Arcia Nail Runner at the Plate With Picture-Perfect Relay
By Michael Luciano
Even in his advanced age, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun can still play a fine defensive outfield. Giants pitcher Tyler Beede thought he had an RBI and a 2-1 lead with his hit off of Brewers starter Jhoulys Chacin, but Braun had other ideas, as he paired with shortstop Orlando Arcia for a perfect relay to nail Mike Yastrzemski at home.
Ideal, fundamental baseball. Look at how casually Braun uncorked that. In this age of mashing 450 foot home runs with ease, the art of a perfect relay can be lost on fans who just want to see dingers all day. However, Braun and Arcia are keeping it alive with some excellent defense.
Remember when your little league coach drilled you nonstop on hitting the cutoff man? This is exactly why. Every now and again, it can save you a run.
