VIDEO: Shane Bieber Freezes Ronald Acuña to Strikeout Side in Front of Home Crowd at All-Star Game
By Michael Luciano
If you didn't know about how lethal Cleveland Indians starter Shane Bieber can be on any given, allow him to introduce himself. The 24-year-old made his first All-Star game on the back of a 3.45 ERA in just his second big league season. Alex Cora let him pitch in front of his hometown fans, and he responded by striking out the side, ending the whole affair with a wicked slider to get Ronald Acuña looking.
This comes after letting Ketel Marte also know that he brought his best stuff onto the brightest stage.
Terry Francona and the home-town crowd were loving Bieber's electric display against the best of the National League, and they let him hear their affection.
Who would have thought that a team with Corey Kluber and Trevor Bauer in their rotation would send a 24-year-old second year player to the All-Star game, and that the player in question would strikeout the side? It just goes to show the old saying is true.
You can't predict baseball.
