VIDEO: Sixers' Mike Scott May Have Just Gotten Softest Ejection in NBA History
By Michael Luciano
Philadelphia 76ers forward Mike Scott was ejected from their matchup against Trae Young and the Atlanta Hawks after he picked up a Flagrant 2 foul. Did he kick or punch someone? No. Did he make contact with a referee? Try again. All Scott did to get booted from this game was bump into center Damian Jones while he was trying to convert a fast break opportunity.
There was clearly some contact on the play, but there is no way you can justify sending him to the locker room for that.
Even if you want to give Scott a Flagrant 1, as it doesn't look like much of an attempt was made on the ball, that's at least acceptable. This is some horrific officiating that will likely go unpunished.
Let this be a warning to all fellow NBA players. If you're in a dead sprint and you lightly brush against a player driving to the rim, the referees will kick you out of the game. That vocal group of fans complaining about how soft the league has gotten just got a major boost with this showing.
