VIDEO: Skip Bayless Has Wild Tom Brady-Jimmy Garoppolo Hypothetical Scenario if 49ers Lose Super Bowl
By Scott Rogust
While everyone is caught up in Super Bowl madness, the other big storyline surrounding the NFL is Tom Brady. The six-time Super Bowl champion is set to hit free agency and he plans on meeting with teams other than the New England Patriots. The Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders have gained the most traction as of late, but leave it to FOX Sports' hot take machine Skip Bayless to give a prediction deep out of left field.
Bayless believes that if the San Francisco 49ers lose Super Bowl LIV and their QB is largely responsible for the loss, they will move on from Jimmy Garoppolo (and his massive cap hit) and bring in Brady, his former mentor.
Brady, at 42 years of age, definitely showed signs of regression this year, though his offense was decimated and he lost his No. 1 target in Rob Gronkowski. Meanwhile, Bayless is seemingly forgetting Garoppolo out-dueled the New Orleans Saints and Drew Brees in a pivotal matchup at the midway point of their 2019 campaign.
So, what, then they'll just try and win a Super Bowl in the next season or two with Brady and disregard the future? The only thing that might make sense here is getting off Jimmy G's contract considering he carries very low dead cap numbers for the next three seasons ($4.2 million, $2.8 million and $1.4 million).
But let's be real. It's probably not going to happen and it's a bit outlandish for Bayless to even suggest this considering the 49ers are preparing for the biggest game of their lives.
