VIDEO: Star Athletics' Prospect Jesus Luzardo Sits Down Aledmys Diaz for 1st MLB Strikeout
By Scott Rogust
Oakland Athletics top pitching prospect Jesus Luzardo's dream came true, as he was called up to the major league roster earlier in the week. On Wednesday, Luzardo continued to live on cloud nine, as he made his MLB debut against the Houston Astros. Entering in relief of Brett Anderson in the sixth inning, Luzardo recorded his first career strikeout, at the expense of Aledmys Diaz.
Luzardo displayed some of the corner-painting ability that had him heralded as one of the most exciting arms in Minor League Baseball, and he has a chance to further boost an Oakland bullpen during the stretch run.
That will certainly be the first of many for Jesus Luzardo, who has a bright career ahead of him with the Athletics. His debut was delayed by various injuries, but at long last, the 21-year-old has reached the bigs.
