Chris Paddack was on the verge of history on Wednesday night. The San Diego Padres rookie hurler carried a no-hitter for the majority of his matchup against the Miami Marlins, the team that drafted him. Many Padres fans waited with anticipation at the potential of Paddack earning the first no-no in franchise history. Marlins infielder Starlin Castro ended all of San Diego's dreams, as he hit a solo home run that went far over the left-center field wall. Oh, and Castro's hitting streak extended to 11 games as a result.

Paddack was six outs away from providing the Padres with their first-ever no hitter in the franchise's 50-year history. Now, the unenviable streak continues at 8.071 games.

While it will certainly sting for Chris Paddack, he can take solace in the fact that he carries a 2.70 ERA 15 games into his rookie season after his quality outing in South Beach.
