VIDEO: Stephen A. Smith Has Ridiculous Explanation for Huge Warriors Run in Game 2
By Sean Facey
Stephen A. Smith has been known to throw out some absurd takes, but this one definitely approaches the top of the list. Smith ridiculously claimed that the key contributing factor to the Golden State Warriors' huge second-half surge in Game 2 of the NBA Finals wasn't the swarming defense or adept shot-making. No, no: it was the absence of fans in the stands.
"Those first few minutes when the Toronto Raptors were the victims of Golden State's 18-0 run, half the damn fans in the arena were at the concession stands," Smith espoused.
Blaming the fans for the Raptors' substandard play has got to be a first, but it's not altogether unsurprising. Smith has seemed to have a vendetta against Toronto and its fans since he called out the local media for covering the Stanley Cup Finals.
Suggesting that the fans, who were rightfully enjoying the amenities of the arena, were responsible for Toronto's hapless start to the third quarter is both unfair and outrageous.
Situations like that happen at every game, regardless of location. The Warriors are notorious for their ability to come out swinging in the second half. Placing the onus on the fans is simply misguided.
