VIDEO: Stephen Strasburg Tipped Pitches in Game 6 But Nats Dugout Caught it Early
By Michael Luciano
Washington Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg continued his historically dominant postseason, out-dueling Houston Astros star Justin Verlander on the road for the second time this series on the back of eight innings of two-run ball in a 7-2 Washington win. His night appeared to be heading for disaster when Alex Bregman smoked a two-run home run that landed in Corpus Christi, but Strasburg was able to settle in thanks to pitching coach Paul Menhart making him aware that he was tipping his pitches.
The firing of Derek Lilliqust and the subsequent hiring of Menhart might have been a season-changing move from the Nationals.
Strasburg, who has a 1.46 postseason ERA in nine games and a 2.51 ERA in 14.1 innings in this World Series, became the first player to ever go 5-0 in a single postseason. If you can believe it, his win-loss record may not even accurately depict his value to this upstart Nationals team on the verge of history.
The Nationals have not one, but two superstar free agents this upcoming offseason (the other being Anthony Rendon), and it's hard to argue against a record-breaking contract for either of them.
