VIDEO: Teddy Bridgewater Gives Inspiring Speech After Winning First Game Since Gruesome Injury
By Michael Luciano
After nearly having his football career taken away from him three years ago when he suffered an unspeakably gruesome leg injury, New Orleans Saints quarterback Teddy Bridgewater is back in business once again. And he celebrated his first win as a starter on Sunday after taking down the Seattle Seahawks. After the game, Bridgewater got the waterworks flowing with an inspirational speech in which he praised the team for accepting him as a member of their unit, and reminding those around him not to take anything for granted.
It's easy to forget Bridgewater was on track to be Minnesota's franchise quarterback before his leg injury sapped away two years of his career. There were major concerns as to whether he would be able to walk again, but rather than give in to the fear, Bridgewater rose above it and is now back to starting games. And in Sean Payton's offense with all those weapons around him, Bridgewater isn't just playing, he's thriving.
While his redemption story feels like it's straight out of a movie, the fact that Bridgewater is universally regarded as the nicest guy in the world serves only to make his comeback even more awe-inspiring.
Bridgewater was a Blair Walsh missed kick away from winning a playoff game with the Vikings, and it's nice to see that Teddy has maintained his ability to throw with impeccable touch down in New Orleans.
It's impossible to root against this guy at this point and his incredible comeback story is only just getting started.
