VIDEO: Terrible Final Strike Call in Blue Jays-Angels Proves Umpire Really Wanted to Go Home Early

We like to think that umpires don't pull any strings in the latter inning of blowout games that, barring a comeback for the ages, don't necessarily have a chance of becoming close again. But if Wednesday night's final strike call in the Blue Jays-Angels clash was any indication, it proves that some umpires just want to get out of dodge as soon as possible in these kind of circumstances.

Talk about egregious. Hopefully Randal Grichuk was hiding his wallet because Mike Winters did everything in his power to rob him of a fair at-bat.

That pitch was so outside that, had a left-handed batter been in the box, they probably would've been genuinely wary of getting plunked in the knee.

But nope. According to Winters, that 96 mph fastball was painted right on the black. Not in this lifetime, sir. And no, we don't want to hear your rebuttal that Jonathan Lucroy's frame was picture-perfect.

Ending the game prematurely on his own terms makes no sense because Toronto had two outs and was trailing by five. The game was destined to conclude at any moment. How is another 10-15 minutes going to effect his schedule?

We do, however, know one thing and that is that Winters was unquestionably the first member of his crew to hit the showers.
