VIDEO: Tigers Top Shortstop Prospect Willi Castro Seems to Have a Serious Throwing Problem
By Ryan Giglio
Detroit Tigers seventh ranked prospect Willi Castro had some difficulties throwing to first base on Tuesday on what looked to be a pair of routine ground balls. Castro, playing for Detroit's Triple-A team, the Toledo Mud Hens, made two errant throws to first base, including one that sailed into the stands. The first and third video are Castro.
Calhoun has already committed 19 errors this season in 79 games played at shortstop and one error in seven games at second. In 2018, Castro committed just 15 errors after consecutive 25-error seasons.
If he doesn't work on his fielding ability, it may be a while until the Tigers feel comfortable utilizing him in their infield.
