VIDEO: Tim Anderson Exits Game Against Red Sox With Potentially Serious Ankle Injury
By Brendan Azoff

Tim Anderson is in the midst of a breakout season in Chicago, but that may just have been put on pause. While fielding a ground ball off the bat of Red Sox slugger J.D. Martinez, Anderson suffered what appeared to be a serious injury. He was unable to put any weight on his right leg as he was carried off the field by the White Sox training staff.

You can see as soon as he plants his foot to throw that something is wrong. He grimaces in pain and doesn't put his right foot back on the ground after releasing the baseball, instead hopping about in pain.
Anderson was enjoying a phenomenal year, with a .313 average and 11 home runs in 2019. Whenever a player is visibly struggling to get off the field under their own power, we are forced to assume the worst.
White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson hurt his right foot or knee making a play behind second base and had to be helped off the field. Unable to put any weight on that leg.

If the injury is serious, it will be a catastrophic blow to the White Sox season, as well as the confidence of Anderson, who will obviously be frustrated by the fact that his great season will have to end early due to what appears to be an ankle injury.
Hopefully for Anderson whatever injury he suffered on the play is a minor one, and he can get back onto the field healthy soon to continue his terrific campaign.
