VIDEO: Tobias Harris Drops Surprisingly Positive Update on Ben Simmons' Jump Shot
By Sean Facey
There's hope for Ben Simmons' jumper after all! Philadelphia 76ers teammate Tobias Harris volunteered a decidedly positive update on the young playmaker's three-point stroke, praising the work that he's put in and saying that he's come a long way.
"I dared him to shoot two [three-pointers], he hit two in a row," Harris said Saturday. "He's made big improvements on his game. His jump shot is looking really good. He has the confidence to shoot."
Harris also added that he's actively been trying to get Simmons to shoot more in scrimmages so he can build his confidence behind the scenes.
His word definitely has weight in this situation. Harris has been one of the best shooters in the league over the past two seasons, converting at 40.7% from three-point territory and 47.4% overall. Hearing a guy like him say that his jumper is improving is a good sign.
Simmons is already a star player as is, and that's without any real threat of a jump shot. Adding in any type of range to his skill set could be downright terrifying for opponents.
Of course, it would be foolish to think that he could piece it all together by the start of the upcoming season, but that doesn't mean there isn't reason to have hope. He'll get to where he needs to be, and it sounds like he'll be there sooner rather than later.
