VIDEO: Trea Turner Completely Botches Hopper to Short to Allow Mets to Walk Off
By Scott Rogust
After a brutal weekend against the Miami Marlins, the New York Mets were due for a victory. On Tuesday night, the Mets tied the game in the bottom of the eighth inning on Peter Alonso's record-setting home run. And with the bases loaded in the ninth, Amed Rosario hit a grounder towards Washington Nationals shortstop Trea Turner. It seems Turner wasn't prepared for the high hop, however, waiting back on the ball instead of charging it and knowing the runner he was facing. The delay allowed Rosario to reach first base safely and, as a result, Adeiny Hechavarria scored at home to give the Mets the walk off victory.
You just can't do that.
Turner would like to have that one back, but the damage has been done, and the Mets earned the much-needed win.
